Calrossy supports the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service

We all know the important role the Westpac Rescue Helicopter plays throughout our community and the communities of Northern NSW.

This vital Service provides 24 hour critical aeromedical care, free of charge, to those in need from three bases;Tamworth, Newcastle and Lismore. The Tamworth Based Helicopter alone is tasked to over 500 missions per year with missions ranging from quad bike accidents to inter-hospital transfers with no two days being the same.

Each year the Tamworth Service and its 300 locally based volunteers help to raise funds, with all of these funds staying with our local base supporting the New England/North West.

One of these major fundraising events is the Ride for the Chopper where 60 -80 riders plus support crew ride their mountain bikes over 7 days back to Tamworth. This years ride is starting in Dubbo and returning via Coonamble and through the Piliga to Tamworth. This year will be the 20th edition of the ride as last years was missed due to COVID restrictions.

Calrossy is proudly supporting this event and our local Rescue Service as a gold sponsor this year. Members of our own Calrossy community have used the Rescue Service in times of emergency and understand that it is a vital service for our region.

Congratulations to all of the support crew and riders registered for this years ride and we wish you all the very best for a safe ride.
