After years of planning, construction and anticipation Calrossy Anglican School has recently welcomed our Years 7 to 9 students into a newly constructed Multi-Use classroom block on the School’s William Cowper Campus. This new building contains specialist facilities which include four Science Laboratories, two Design and Technology rooms, Art and Dance Studios as well as general-purpose classrooms. With the completion of this $4.3 million building project, it has allowed Calrossy to locate all students in Years 7 to 9 onto the William Cowper Campus in a single sex classroom with a co-ed playground structure for Junior Secondary. Our students then progress onto the Brisbane Street Campus into a fully co-ed structure for their Senior Secondary Years 10 to 12.

Principal David Smith is delighted with the success of the first term in the new buildings, stating, “This project is a significant step forward as part of our School Master Plan. I would like to recognise and thank the Calrossy Anglican School Foundation and their $350,000 Building Fund contributions, plus the Federal Government’s Block Grant Authority (BGA) for the significant $950,000 financial investment into our school’s future. It has been wonderful to observe how the students have adapted to teaching and learning in the new facilities, enjoying the academic and social opportunities available to them under our School’s unique structure and all-inclusive culture.”

In further developments, Calrossy has announced the commencement of the next phase of the Master Planning progress, in the announcement of a $7 million Campus wide investment. This includes another Multi Use Classroom building with construction due to commence by the end of 2021. This building will be situated between the Secondary 7-9 and Junior (Infants and Primary) School sections of the William Cowper Campus and will be home to specialist service areas providing for all Prep to Year 9 including; relocated Music facilities with spaces for classes, rehearsal, lessons and a tiered performance space, plus a dedicated space for the Independent Learning Centre and Wellbeing services which will also be a welcome development for the Campus.

Not only will this construction provide high quality facilities for our students and staff, it will enhance the entire William Cowper Campus. Mr David Smith also went on to announce that the other capital improvement provided for in the $7 million announcement included construction of shelter areas, development of bitumen sealed carparks and roadways, additional footpaths to link areas together, along with the establishment of two new multi-sport courts.

This campus and our resources across the school are going to look significantly different in the coming years, and we would like to again acknowledge the support of the Foundation and the BGA along with our wider community for supporting these projects that will provide quality facilities for our broad cross section of regional students, both day and boarding, and the wider community that utilise our campus and facilities for events or sporting pursuits.
